Toronto’s Best Outdoor Events: September 10-12

Everyone’s back to school and on a schedule again so the weekends count a bit more. Get outdoors this weekend for one of the following five activities:

1.     Weekend to End Breast Cancer

Walk to raise money for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Hospital this weekend and fight women’s cancers. Choose from a one-day 30km walk or a two-day, 60km trek.

  • Highlight: Fighting cancer by doing something healthy.
  • When: September 11 & 12
  • Where: Direct Energy Centre

2.     Guided Bird Walk + Solar Conservation Fair

Stretch your legs on a guided bird walk and see which of our fine feathered friends you can meet. Then learn all you can about going solar at the Solar and Conservation Fair, also happening at Colonel Sam Smith Park Saturday.

  • Highlight: Crisp air, colorful birds, conservation and exercise.
  • When: September 11(Bird walk: 9am-11am Fair: 1pm-5pm)
  • Where: Colonel Sam Smith Park
  • Cost: Free

3.     Migratory Birds Walking Tour

Join some other outdoors-minded locals on a guided walking tour that focuses on our fine feathered migratory friends.

  • Highlight: Getting outside for some fresh air in a group setting.
  • When: September 12, 10:30am
  • Where: High Park
  • Cost: Free

4.     Music Garden Concert

“Mozart Un-Locked” presented by The Rosetta Trio will be the last concert of the season for Toronto Music Garden. After listening to the string music played on period instruments, why not walk the Waterfront Trail?

  • Highlight: Beautiful music in the garden for the last time this season.
  • When: September 12
  • Where: Toronto Music Garden, 475 Queens Quay West
  • Cost: Free

5.     Marlborough to Summerhill Walk

Enjoy the September air on a historical and architectural focused walk. See grand estates, a city reservoir, the restored North Toronto Station and more.

  • Highlight: See Toronto’s natural heritage.
  • When: September 11 1:30pm-3:30pm
  • Where: Stars on Parkette on SE corner of Avenue Rd & MacPherson Ave
  • Cost: Free
