Toronto’s Best Outdoor Events: September 3-6

With this being the last holiday weekend of the summer, we know we’ll be taking in as many great events as we can! Here are a few of our top picks for this long Labour Day weekend.

Rouge Park Trail

Rouge Park Trail

1.     CNE Airshow

Grab a pair of earplugs and head to Exhibition Place this long holiday weekend and enjoy one of the best parts of the Canadian National Exhibition – the airshow! After the show, take a nice relaxing stroll along the Waterfront Trail before summer’s gone!

  • Highlight: The Snowbirds soaring overhead in celebration of Canadian navy men and women.
  • When: Sept 4,5,6
  • Where: Exhibition Place
  • Cost: Free with entrance to the CNE ($16)

2.     Ashkenaz

Havdallah ceremonies, klezmer musicians and yiddish pop-rock bands are all a part of celebrating Jewish culture at Harbourfront Centre all weekend long. Take a break from the action and cool off with a nice harbourfront walk.

  • Highlight: Celebrating Jewish music arts and dance!
  • When: September 4-6
  • Where: Harbourfront Centre
  • Cost: Free

3.     Rouge Park Guided Walks

There are three guided walks happening at Rouge Park this Saturday. Each walk is two hours long, some are more suited for families, some are dog-friendly and some are not.

  • Highlight: Soaking up the summer sun before the leaves change!
  • When: Sept 4
  • Where: Rouge Park
  • Cost: Free

4.     Edible Summer

Walk through the Toronto Botanical Gardens – there’s still lots of summer left! Edible containers, the Pizza Garden (part of the Children’s Edible Garden) and Italian Kitchen Garden are still on display.

  • Highlight: Celebrating the bounty of nature!
  • When: Now through September 30
  • Where: Toronto Botanical Garden
  • Cost: Free

5.     Swim at Sunnyside Pool

It’s sad that the lakeside public pool had to be closed for much of the season because of damage from flooding but it’s open again! As long as weather permits, Sunnyside will be open two weeks past Labour Day. It’s a great way to cool down since pool heaters aren’t working! After you dry off take a nice walk on the Waterfront Trail. You might need to warm up again!

  • Highlight: Cooling off in the public pool before it closes.
  • When: Now until Sept 19 if weather cooperates.
  • Where: Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Parkside Drive.
  • Cost: Free
