Toronto’s Best Arts&Culture Events: September 3-6

There is no shortage of fun things to do with your Labour Day weekend. Since it’s the last holiday of the summer there’s lots going on. The following are our five favorites!

1.     Ashkenaz

Jewish arts, music and dance will be celebrated at Harbourfront Centre all weekend. Celebrate Havdallah, dance to the quiet sounds of Shtiller Tants with DiTsvey or bop to Yiddish Princess tunes! There will also be storytelling by Aubrey Davis, celebrated author and storyteller.

2.     Hispanic Fiesta

Celebrate the Spanish culture; live music, taste testing and of course…dancing! Enjoy learning about the heritage of more than 20 Spanish-speaking countries.

  • Highlight: Being mesmerized by Spanish dancing.
  • When: September 3-6
  • Where: Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge Street
  • Cost: Free

3.     AGO – Julian Schnabel

View more than 25 of award-winning filmmaker and painter, Julian Schunabel’s best pieces at the Art Gallery of Ontario’s newest exhibit. There’s an opportunity to meet the artist on September 15th.

  • Highlight: The large-scale works painted on broken crockery.

4. Brazilian Day Canada

Enjoy a day of dancing, live music and performances and of course the delicious tastes of Brazil during Brazilian Day!

  • Highlight: The sights, sounds and tastes of Brazil.

  • Cost: Free (VIP tickets $1-150)

5. Distillery Artisans

The focus at this weekend’s craft sale – the last of the summer – will be on all different kinds of art. You don’t know what you’ll find so come see what’s there!
